Cathepsin D is an aspartyl protease expressed in all cells and has a role on the degradation of proteins in lysosomes. It is initially expressed as an inactive 52kD precursor and activated by proteolysis.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blot: 1:1000. Band at 34kD and weaker band at 52kD
Immunohistochemistry (Frozen sections and paraffin-embedded sections): 1:200 for paraffin sections
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Recommended Positive ControlsHuman breast carcinoma or cell line extract.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
