Caveolae are specialized plasma membrane associated organelles that participate in numerous cellular functions including endocytosis, potocytosis, transcytosis, signal transduction and cholesterol trafficking. Caveolae are also important in the regulation of various nitric oxide The major proteins that form caveolae are the caveolins of which there are three major isoforms. Caveolin-2 has been shown to positively regulate caveolin-1-dependent caveolae biogenesis and that this phenomenon is contingent on the phosphorylation of caveolin-2 on serines 23 and 36 (1–5).

The affinity purified product has been cross adsorbed against the phosphorylated peptide to remove antibodies that may detect the phosphorylated form of the protein.
