CKR5, or C-C chemokine receptor type 5, is a G protein-coupled, seven-transmembrane domain receptor protein. It has been found to be the receptor for MIP-1-alpha, MIP-1-beta and RANTES (1,2), and functions to transduce a signal by increasing the intracellular calcium ions level. Entry of HIV-1 into target cells requires cell-surface CD4 and additional host cell cofactors. It has been determined that CKR5 serves as the principal cofactor for entry of primary macrophage-tropic strains of HIV-1 into cells (3).

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
