Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Affinity Purified IH FC
Rat CD4 cell surface glycoprotein, a 55kD molecule expressed by helper T cells and weakly by monocytes. Monoclonal antibodies clustered as CD4 detect most thymocytes and a subpopulation of peripheral blood T cells, called T helper cells (Th). In addition, CD4 is expressed on monocytes and macrophages. The CD4 antigen is a 55kD glycoprotein which plays a role in the recognition of foreign antigens presented to T cells by MHC class II molecules. Furthermore, CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV-1 by binding the viral protein gp120. CD4 monoclonal antibodies are commonly used in routine testing of blood for CD4+ positive cells and CD4/CD8 ratios in many patient groups, including HIV/AIDS patients. A group of T cell leukemias can be detected using a panel of antibodies including CD4.

Immunohistochemistry: paraffin-embedded material following PLP fixation (periodate-l ysine-paraformaldehyde)
Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
HybridomaSpleen cells from immunized BALB/c mouse were fused with cells of the mouse NS-1 myeloma cell line.
Recommended Negative ControlsI1904-78X IgG1 Murine Negative Control (For rat tissue) (FITC)
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
