| CD31 (PECAM-1, Platelet gpIIa Molecule), a ~130kD integral membrane glycoprotein, is expressed in platelets, cultured endothelial cells, monocytes, normal tissue macrophages in tonsil, lung and kidney, skin biopsies from conditions such as sarcoidosis and lepromatous leprosy and bone marrow-derived hematopoietic stem cells and embryonic stem cells. CD31 mediates cell-cell adhesion. Valuable iin the study of benign and malignanat vaascular tumors. Stainiing for CD31 has also been used to measure angiogenesis, which reportedly predicts tumor recurrence. | | | Catalog # | C2383-04 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Not suitable for Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1:50 for 30min at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 1mM EDTA, pH 8.0 for 10-20 min., followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | Placenta | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1,k | | Clone No | 0.N.100 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined. | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS with 0.09% sodium azide, before the addition of glycerol to 40%. | | Purity | Tissue Culture Supernatant | | Immunogen | Membrane preparation of a spleen from a patient with hairy cell leukemia. Cellular Localization: Cell membrane. | | Specificity | Recognizes human. endothelial cells in normal tissues and in benign and malignant proliferations 100kD (endothelial cells) and 130kD (platelets). In cryostat sections and blood smears the antibody also stains megakaryocytes, platelets and occasionally plasma cells. It reacts weakly with mantle zone B cells, peripheral T cells, and neutrophils. Antibody to CD31 is of value in the study of benign and malignant vascular tumors. Staining for CD31 has also been used to measure angiogenesis, which reportedly predicts tumor recurrence. Species Crossreactivity: Does not react with rat or porcine. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
