| The neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM/CD56) has been shown to mediate homophilic cell-cell adhesion in the neuroendocrine system with interactions among immunoglobulin-like domains. It is a multifunction transmembrane protein involved in synaptic plasticity, neurodevelopment and neurogenesis. NCAM appears on early embryonic cells and is important in the formation of cell collectives and their boundaries at sites of morphogenesis (1-3). It is preferentially expressed on human NK cells and a subset of T lymphocytes that mediate MHC-unrestricted cell-mediated cytotoxicity (1). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the NCAM gene are reported to be significantly associated with bipolar disorder in the Japanese population (3). | | | Catalog # | C2410-56C | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry, Flow Cytometry and Immunoprecipitation.
