Polyclonal Rabbit Affinity Purified E B
Cell division cycle 2 (cdc2) is a cell cycle control component in the eukaryotic cell cycle. In fission yeast, cdc2 is the determinant of whether a cell enters S phase or mitosis. The zebrafish homologue of cdc2 is a catalytic subunit of the maturation promoting factor (MPF), where it is coupled with the regulatory subunit cyclin B. Treatment of fully grown zebrafish oocytes with 17,20-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (17,20-DP), a natural maturing hormone in fishes, induced the oocytes to mature via activation of MPF. However, 17,20-DP treatment of growing oocytes fails to induce maturation. Immunoblotting experiments revealed that cdc2 and cdk7 concentrations are virtually constant throughout oogenesis.
