| Three major isoforms of Cdk11 identified are the full length gene product Cdk11p110 and the shorter polypeptides Cdk11p58 and Cdk11p46. Cdk11p110 is a component of RNA polymerase II containing complexes involved in transcriptional regulation, and is implicated in pre-mRNA splicing through interaction with the splicing factor RNPS1 (RNA-binding protein with serine-rich domain 1). Cdk11p58 has been linked with mitosis, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, and recently implicated as a negative regulator of the androgen receptor (AR) as part of a cyclin D3/ Cdk11p58 complex.
