| BioPrimary™ Cells are derived using technology including advanced protocols and adjuvants that ehance the viability of our cells to over >90% total post-thaw viability. | | | Catalog # | C2600-300 | | CD8+ cytotoxic killer T cells (CTL) belong to a sub-group of T lymphocytes that are capable of inducing the death of infected-somatic [with viruses or other pathogens] or tumor cells. Most CD8+ cytotoxic T cells express T-cell receptors (TCRs) that can recognize a specific antigenic peptide bound to Class I MHC molecules, present on all nucleated cells, and a glycoprotein called CD8, which is attracted to non-variable portions of the Class I MHC molecule. The affinity between CD8 and the MHC molecule keeps the Cytotoxic T cell and the target cell bound closely together during antigen-specific activation. CD8+ T cells are recognized as Cytotoxic T cells once they become activated and are generally classified as having a pre-defined cytotoxic role within the immune system. | | Role in Disease Pathogenesis | CD8+ cytotoxic T cells play an important pathogenetic role during Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection. These cells eliminate the virus by killing infected cells and producing antiviral cytokines capable of purging HBV from viable hepatocytes. Recently, CTLs have been implicated in the progression of arthritis; specifically in the depletion of knee joint cartilage macromolecules such as glycosaminoglycans. | | All products are shipped on dry ice with | 1) Certificate of Analysis (with viability and purity results), and 2) Thawing instructions | | Storage and Stability | | | It is recommended that cells are used as soon as possible following receipt to ensure optimal viability. Cells may be stored at -80 C for up to one month (minimize storage length at -80 C in order to maximize viability). | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
