| Cerebellin-1, known also as CBLN1, Precerebellin or Cerebellin precursor, is a secreted membrane protein with a predicted molecular weight of 21kD. Cerebellin 1 is required for synapse integrity and synaptic plasticity and for the ER export and secretion of CBLN3. Cerebellin 1 exerts neuromodulatory functions including directly stimulating norepinephrine release via the adenylate cyclase/PKA-dependent signaling pathway; and indirectly enhances adrenocortical secretion in vivo, through a paracrine mechanism involving medullary catecholamine release.
