CDNF is a neutrophic factor for dopaminergic neurons. Studies have demonstrated that CDNF can prevent the 6-hydroxylamine (6-OHDA)-induced degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in a rat model of Parkinson's disease. Additionally CDNF has been shown to restore the dopaminergic function and prevent the degeneration of dopaminergic neurones in the substantia nigra, suggesting that CDNF may have potential in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

CDNF exists in at least two known isoforms and is widely expressed in both neuronal and non-neuronal tissues. Within the brain, highest expression is observed in the optic nerve and corpus callosum.
ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
