| Synthetic Peptide C(131)DSGRVRTDAPD(142) (linear) | | | corresponding to the C-terminal amino acid residues 131-142 of human CETP protein. | | | Catalog # | C3050-01A | | Immunizing peptide corresponds to the C-terminal amino acid residues 131-142 of human CETP protein, C(131)DSGRVRTDAPD(142). Corresponds to anti-CETP C3050-01 which detects cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) from human and rabbit tissues. | | It has been proposed that high density lipoproteins (HDLs) function jointly with lecithin | cholesterol acyltransferase and CETP to facilitate cholesterol transport from tissues to the liver. This mechanism, referred to as reverse cholesterol transport, is physiologically important because it maintains systemic cholesterol levels. | | CETP is responsible for neutral lipid transfer activity in plasma in numerous species. Since CETP is able to specifically accelerate the exchange of lipid components between pro- and anti-atherogenic lipoprotein fractions, it may be a key determinant of the global atherogenicity of the plasma lipoprotein profile and arises as a possible target in atherosclerosis prevention. In general, elevated levels of CETP have been associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease. | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blotting neutralization and control experiments. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Using a solution of peptide of equal volume and concentration to the corresponding antibody will yield a large molar excess of peptide (~70-fold) for competitive inhibition of antibody-protein binding reactions. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume (see reconstitution instructions for peptides) and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | | | Purity | Purified | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a lyophilized powder. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
