| Selective isolation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other gram-negative, non-fermentative bacteria. | | | Catalog # | C3100 | | Centrimide Agar is based on Tech Agar, which was developed by King, Ward and Raney. Centrimide is prepared according to this formula with the addition of Centrimide (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide). Cetrimide is a quaternary ammonium, cationic detergent with limited disinfectant action. It causes nitrogen and phosphorus to be released from the bacterial ceII. This germicidal activity is effective on most microorganisms except Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Centrimide Agar Base is supplemented with 1% Glycerol as a source of carbon. | | Storage | Store the sealed bottle containing the dehydrated medium at 4°C. Once opened and recapped, place the container in a low humidity environment at the same storage temperature. Protect it from moisture and light. The dehydrated medium should be discarded if it is not free flowing or if the color has changed from the original light beige color. | | Microbiological Analysis | | | Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 | Inhibited | | Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 | Growth, yellow-green to blue pigment | | Staphylococcus aurous ATCC 25923 | Inhibited | | | Appearance | | | Light beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder. | | | Solubility | | | Light to medium beige, slightly turbid. | | | pH (25°C) | | | 7.2±0.2 | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
