| The chromogranins (A, B, and C) are major components of dense core granules of neuroendocrine cells and sympathetic nerves. They constitute a widely distributed family of acidic soluble proteins which range in molecular weight from 76-120kD. Each polypeptide subunit shares the some sequence homology. Polyclonal chromogranin A antibody is useful in the identification of neuroepthelial and neuroendocrine differentiation in neoplastic cells. It may be used with other neuroendocrine markers such as NSE, MOC-32, CD56, and synaptophysin to improve the tumor diagnosis. | | | Catalog # | C5069-96E | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Immunohistochemistry: Frozen and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections using light microscopy | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | Human pancreas or neuroendocrine tumor that has been previously shown to express Chromogranin A | | Epitope Retrieval | Not Required | | Enzyme Digestion | Not Required | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~0.05mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 1% BSA, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified | | Immunogen | Purified Chromogranin A from human tissue with carcinoid syndrome. Expected Staining Pattern: Cytoplasmic. | | Specificity | Recognizes human Chromogranin A fragments located at the C-terminal half, but not with fragments located at the N terminal half of the polypeptide. Recacts with Chromogranin A, which is present in the secretory vesicles of neuroendocrine cells such as in pancreas, adrenal medulla, pituitary, and thyroid. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
