Type V collagen is found in tissues containing type I collagen and appears to regulate the assembly of heterotypic fibers composed of both type I and type V collagen. This gene product is closely related to type XI collagen and it is possible that the collagen chains of types V and XI constitute a single collagen type with tissue-specific chain combinations. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, types I and II.

Applications	Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions	ELISA: 15ug will detect 15ng of bovine Collagen Type V with no crossreactivity with other Collagens. Higher levels of antibody may be necessary to detect lower concentrations of Collagen.
	Immunohistochemistry: Frozen sections. Note: Some tissues may require unmasking of the epitope using dilute (10mM) Acetic Acid or collegenase.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Technical Note	Some Collagen samples can be contaminated with other Collagen Types. When purified Collagen is used in an application the purity of the Collagen sample should be verified by SDS-PAGE to minimize the risk of false positives.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Immunogen	Collagen Type V
Specificity	Recognizes Type V Collagen. Species Crossreactivity: human, sheep, bovine, porcine, canine and kangaroo. Displays moderate affinity for rabbit Type V Collagen. There is no evidence for crossreactivity with Collagen Types I, III and VI or connective tissue proteins (Elastin, Fibronectin and Laminin).
