C3a is a 77 amino acid (aa) peptide comprising aa 672-748 of the C3 precursor protein. It is generated as a proteolytic byproduct of complement activation. C3a is an anaphylatoxin that is vasoactive and mediates inflammatory responses. It binds G-protein coupled C3a receptors in airways during asthmatic allergen challenges, triggering robust mast cell degranulation. Human C3a shows 69% aa identity with mouse, rat and guinea pig C3a.
Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Direct ELISA. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilutions	Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml. The detection limit is ~25ng/lane under non-reducing conditions. Reducing conditions are not recommended. Chemiluminescent detection will increase sensitivity by 5 to 50 fold.
	Direct ELISA: 0.5-1.0ug/ml. The detection limit is ~10ng/well.
	Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability	Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
