Complement C5a is generated in the circulation by the activation of complement. It is a so-called anaphylatoxin of 74 amino-acid residues generated by the action of C5 convertase, which cleaves C5 into C5a and C5b. It is rapidly inactivated by serum carboxypeptidase B, which removes the C-terminal arginine residue generating C5a(desArg) (1).

ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionELISA: 1:32,000. The dilution guideline for ELISA is based on use as detection antibody for antigen coated at 0.5ug/ml and does not apply to sandwich ELISA.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
