Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Supernatant B IH
Connexin 43 is a member of a large family of gap junction proteins. Each gap junction is composed of two hemichannels, or connexons that provide a route for the diffusion of low molecular weight materials from cell to cell.. Connexin 43 is found in the heart and brain and is known to bind tubulin at its C-terminus.
Catalog #C7857-09
ApplicationsSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blot: 1:500-1:2000 Detects Connexin 43 in rat brain microsomal preparations. Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with C7857-09 (1:1000 dilution) or without a primary antibody. Proteins were visualized using IgG (HRP) goat anti mouse and a chemiluminescence detection system. Extra bands seen in sample and negative control.
Immunohistochemistry: Detects Connexin 43 in frozen rat heart sections.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

PurityCulture supernatant
ImmunogenSynthetic peptide corresponding to aa131-142 (EIKKFKYGIEEH-C) of human Connexin 43 with a C-terminal cysteine added for conjugation to bovine thyroglobulin. Antibodies raised to this region have been shown to block all GAP junction communication.
SpecificityRecognizes human Connexin 43, Mr ~43kD. Species Crossreactivity: rat. Wide range of species crossreactivity expected due to sequence homology.
