| Cortactin is present as a p80 and p85kD protein in many cell types. The protein was first identified as being a major substrate of the tyrosine kinase pp60SRC. The main structural feature of the protein is that at the N-terminus there are five and a half 37-amino acid repeats, these appear to be responsible for the actin-binding. This repeat region occupies about a third of the protein. The repeat region is followed by a helical region and then a proline rich region and finally a SH3 domain. |

| Recommended Dilutions | Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects Cortactin (p80/85) in mouse 3T3/A31 cell lysates. Detects Cortactin in chicken fibroblast src-transformed cell lysate. 3T3/A31 cell lysate was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with C7901-80. Proteins were visualized using an IgG Gt x Mo (HRP) and a chemiluminescence detection system. |

| Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
