| Cyclooxygenase (COX), also known as prostaglandin G/H synthase, is a membrane bound enzyme partly responsible for the catalysis of prostanoid synthesis. COX is expressed as at least three different isoforms. COX-1 is constitutively expressed and thought to regulate a number of 'housekeeping' functions such as vascular hemostasis, renal blood flow, and glomerular function. COX-2 expression is tightly regulated and induced by inflammatory mediators such as growth factors, cytokines, and endotoxin. COX-3 appears to be much more strictly regulated spatially and is observed in greatest abundance in cerebral cortex. | | | Catalog # | C7904-82B | | Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunohistochemistry: Paraffin | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | KLH coupled synthetic peptide derived from the sequence of human Cox2. | | Specificity | Recognizes human Cox2.
