Specifications

Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Ascites E IH IC
Cranin is expressed in brain and many other tissues, it binds laminin with high affinity in a calcium dependent manner. It appears to be important in maintaining normal muscle integrity. Loss of cranin from the muscle surface may be one of the primary events leading to muscle injury in congenital muscular dystrophies, it may also play a role in the cognitive deficits often seen in such conditions.
Catalog #C7906-75
ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Not recommended for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionImmunohistochemistry: 1:1-1:50 On tissue fixed briefly with 0.5% glutaraldehyde, 4% paraformaldehyde, methanol or acetone. Prolonged fixation must be avoided.
Immunocytochemistry: Neuron, astrocyte, smooth muscle, fibroblast and epithelial cell lines.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

ImmunogenSynthetic peptide corresponding to aa572-604 of human cranin.
SpecificityRecognizes human Cranin (dystroglycan), extracellular site, near the C-terminus of the alpha-subunit. The expression and localization of cranin varies considerably according to the cells physiologic state and differentiaion state. Recognizes the same peptide region as C7906-76, but a different isotope. Species crossreactivity: rat, mouse, sheep, chicken, Xenopus.
