| CXCR3 is a cell surface chemokine receptor that belongs to the family of G protein linked, seven transmembrane domain containing receptors. With the cloning of this molecule, it was identified as the specific receptor for two CXC chemokines: gamma interferon induced protein and monokine induced by interferon gamma (1). The CXCR3 receptors appear to have affinity for CXC chemokines that do not contain the conserved ELR motif at their amino terminus and as a result IL-8 and platelet factor 4 (PF4) do not bind to this receptor (2). CXCR3 shares approximately 40% amino acid homology with the CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors, and approximately 35% homology with the first five CCR receptors (1). Even though the two ligands for CXCR3 belong to the alpha chemokine family, IP-10 and MIG are the first chemokines to target lymphocytes (1-3). CXCR3 molecules were also found by mRNA expression on activated T cells, B cells and NK cells, but not on monocytes, resting T cells or neutrophils (1,4). Of clinical interest is the demonstration of CXCR3 expression on cells from B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemias and splenic marginal zone lymphomas (5). | | | Catalog # | C8349-01 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry.
