| Cyclins controls the transitions between the phases of the eukaryotic cell cycle as regulatory subunits of the cyclin dependentkinases (cdk). Human cyclins have been grouped into 5 types, A through E, based largely upon sequence similarity. Cyclin A first identified in sea urchin embryos is a 33kD protein identical to adenovirus e1a-associated protein p60. It can bind and activate the kinases p33cdk2 and p34cdc2. In addition to its mitotic functions, cyclin A is essential for progression through S phase. During S phase, cyclin A forms complex containing cdk2, the pRB-related protein p107, and the transcription factor E2F. It may indeed be directly involved in DNA replication; it colocalizes with the DNA replication complex and was found in a cellular activity that promotes large tumor-antigen-dependent simian virus 40DNA replication in Gl-phase cell extracts. It maps to 4q25-q31 region of human chromosome. | | | Catalog # | C8452-06B | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
