Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Purified B IH
Cyclin E is a regulatory subunit of Cdk2 and controls G1 / S transition during the mammalian cell cycle. Multiple isoforms of Cyclin E are only expressed in tumors but not in normal tissue, suggesting a post transcriptional regulation of Cyclin E. In vitro analyses indicated that these truncated variant isoforms of Cyclin E are able to phosphorylate histone H1. Alterations in the Cyclin E protein have been implicated as indicators of worse prognosis in various cancers.

ImmunogenSynthetic peptide corresponding to human cyclin E protein.
SpecificityThis antibody recognizes a doublet of 50kD and a single band of 42kD identified as cyclin E. Cyclin proteins are a family of related proteins, which control the progression of the eukaryotic cell cycle. Overexpression of cyclin E shortens the length of the G1 phase, accelerating progression of S phase. The activity of cyclin E is mediated through its activation of cyclin dependent kinase 2 (cdk2) protein and is modulated by the presence of tumor suppressor proteins such as p16. Species Crossreactivity: This antibody is reactive against human.
