| In addition to its well-known role in electron transport, cytochrome c (CYT) has been identified as a mediator of apoptosis or programmed cell death. Cytochrome c translocates from mitochondria into the cytoplasm in the early phases of apoptosis and plays a role in initiation of the apoptotic proteolytic cascade by activating caspase-3. Cytochrome c has been shown to bind Apaf-1. Apaf-1 has also been shown to activate capase-3. | | | Catalog # | C9095-01C | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG2b | | Clone No | 7H8.2C12 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Pigeon | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.2% gelatin, 0.05% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Synthetic peptides corresponding to amino acids 1-80, 81-104 and 66-104 of pigeon CYT were used as the immunogen (Jemmerson et al. 1991).
