| Cytochrome c is an electron transporting protein that resides within the intermembrane space of the mitochondria, where it plays a critical role in the process of oxidative phosphorylation and production of cellular ATP. An increasing amount of interest has been directed toward the role which cytocrome c has been demonstrated to play in apoptotic processes. Following exposure to apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome c is rapidly released from the mitochondria into the cytosol, an event which may be required for the completion of apoptosis in some systems. Cytosolic cytochrome c functions in the activation of caspase-3, and ICE family molecule that is a key effector of apoptosis. | | | Catalog # | C9095-02X | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | | | Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1-2ug/ml for 30 min at RT. Note: Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. | | Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | HeLa cells. Cardiac muscle. | | Cellular Localization | Cytoplasmic | | MW of Antigen | 15kD | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at-20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at-20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG2b | | Clone No | 7H8.2C12 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Pigeon | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4.
