| Cytokeratin filaments consist of a complex family of ~20 different cytokeratin polypeptides with relative molecular weights of 40kD to 68kD. These intracellular intermediate filaments of 10nm in diameter provide structural integrity to epithelial cells. All the filament subunits share a general common fibrillar organization, consisting of a central alpha-helical rod that is flanked by N- and C-terminal domains at each end. Generally, low molecular weight keratins are expressed in the early stages of cell development, whereas high molecular weight keratins are expressed in maturing cells. | | | Catalog # | C9097-01S | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
