| Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins and are characterized by a remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between 40kD and 68kD and isoelectric pH between 4.9-7.8. The individual cytokeratin polypeptides are designated 1 to 20. Cytokeratin 1 has the highest molecular weight and the highest isoelectric pH, while cytokeratin 19 has the lowest molecular weight and a low isoelectric pH. The cytokeratins are divided into the type I and type II subgroups, the type II family members comprising the basic to neutral cytokeratins 1-8, while the type I group comprises the acidic cytokeratins 9-20. The cytokeratins are expressed in combinations which characterize the type of epithelium. | | | Catalog # | C9097-39A | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot, Flow Cytometry, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry. This antibody reacts particularly well in paraffin embedded tissue. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Flow Cytometry: 1:50-1:100 | | Immunohistochemistry: Frozen tissue after fixation in methanol. Paraffin embedded tissue sections pretreated with 0.1% pronase/ 0.1% trysin in PBS or 0.5% pepsine in 0.01N HCl. Avidin-biotinylated horseradish peroxidase complex as a detection reagent. 1:50-1:100 (ABC). | | Western Blot: 1:50-1:500 | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | Hybridization of SP2/0-Ag14 myeloma cells with spleen cells from mice immunized with cytoskeletal preparation of OTN-11 ovarian carcinoma cell line. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1,k | | Clone No | 4A39 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~0.5mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.1% sodium azide before the addition of glycerol to 40%.
