| Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins and are characterized by a remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between 40kD and 68kD and isoelectric pH between 4.9-7.8. The individual cytokeratin polypeptides are designated 1 to 20. The various epithelia in the human body usually express cytokeratins which are not only characteristic of the type of epithelium, but also related to the degree of maturation or differentiation within an epithelium. Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are used to an increasing extent in the distinction of different types of epithelial malignancies. The cytokeratin antibodies are not only of assistance in the differential diagnosis of tumors using immunohistochemistry on tissue sections, but are also a useful tool in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays. | | | Catalog # | C9097-40F | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunoblot, Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunoblot: 1:100-1:1000 | | Immunohistochemistry: 1:100-1:200. Frozen tissue sections fixed with methanol; Paraffin embedded tissue sections pretreated with 0.1% pronase/0.1% trypsin in PBS, 0.5% pepsin in 0.01N HCl or microwave pretreatment. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 2Q1133 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in buffer containing 0.09% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified culture supernatant | | Immunogen | Cytoskeletal preparation of OTN-11 ovarian carcinoma cell line | | Specificity | Recognizes human cytokeratin 7.
