| DDX5, also known as p68 RNA helicase, is a 614aa, 68kD member of the DEAD box family of RNA helicases that contain the conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif. DDX5 influences RNA transport, transcription, ribosome assembly, spliceosome function, RNA degradation, and the initiation of translation. DDX5 shares 87% aa identity with DDX-17 within the central region and the two are often expressed together.
