Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Supernatant E B IH IF
The DJ-1 molecule is a conserved ~20 kD protein that is involved in diverse cellular processes such as cellular transformation, control of protein-RNA interaction, oxidative stress response to control of male infertility, and several others. Mutations in the human DJ-1 gene are associated with the development of an early-onset, recessive form of Parkinsonís disease. DJ-1 is found in sperm of many mammalian species, including humans, and in rodent species it appears to affect
the capacity of the sperm to fertilize. DJ-1 has been reported to appear in the sera of women at an early stage of breast cancer, and its level of expression has been observed to increase, together with several other proteins, in prostate cancer cell lines. It has also been shown that down-regulation of DJ-1 in prostate cancer cells sensitizes the cells to drugs that induce apoptosis.
