Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Affinity Purified E B IP IH FC
Epithelial Specific Antigen (ESA, Epithelial Cellular Adhesion Molecule, Ep-CAM), EGP40) is expressed on the baso-lateral cell surface in most human simple epithelia and a vast majority of carcinomas. It is of recent interest as a tumor marker.
Catalog #E3415-07
ApplicationsSuitable for use in Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Blocking studies. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionImmunohistochemistry: Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues and frozen-sections.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
HybridomaSP2/0 myeloma cell line
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

SpecificityRecognizes human Epithelial Specific Antigen. Recognizes a 40kD transmembranous epithelial glycoprotein expressed on baso-lateral cell surfaces in very many epithelial tissues (but absent from mesothelial tissues). The extracellular domain has a cysteine-rich repeat and a small domain with homology to nidogen. It is a homophilic cell-cell adhesion molecule, recently called Ep-CAM (Litvinov et al., 1994). This molecule is also detected by antibodies such as 323/A3, BER-EP4, 171A, AUA1, KS1/4, MOC-31, GA733, HEA 125 and others). It reacts with most epithelial cells and carcinomas.
