| c-erbB4 is the fourth member of class I receptor kinase family |
|
| (ErbB). HER4 is most predominantly expressed in several breast carcinoma cell lines, and in normal skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain and cerebellum. Breast tumor cell lines T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474 and H3396 are found to have the highest levels of mRNA, and intermediate levels are seen in MCF-7, MDA-MB-330 and MDA-MB-361. Expression of erbB4 is low or absent in some breast tumor cell lines such as MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468 and SKBR-3. |

| Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Inhibition of heregulin |
| (NDF) binding. Not suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. |
| Recommended Dilution | Inhibition of Heregulin (NDF) Binding: Order Ab without sodium azide |
| Immunoprecipitation: Only Immunoprecipitates the unoccupied receptor. |
| Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. |
| Positive Control | T47D or MDA-MB-453 cells |
| Cellular Localization | Cytoplasmic and cell membrane |
| Epitope | Extracellular domain |
| Source | Ascites |
| Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at-20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at-20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |

| Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4. No stabilizing proteins and no preservatives added. Also available with BSA and azide. See E3451-40B. |
| Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. |
| Immunogen | Extracellular domain of recombinant human c-erbB4/HER4 oncoprotein |
| Specificity | Recognizes human ErbB4 (c-erbB4, HER4) at 185kD. Inhibits the binding of heregulin (NDF) to c-erbB4. Does not effect tyrosine kinase activity or internalization of c-erbB4. |
