ER gene consists of more than 140kb of genomic DNA divided into 8 exons, being translated into a protein with six functionally discrete domains required for transcription activation function, binding to estrogen response element (ERE) constitutive dimerization, binding to heat shock proteins, and ligand recognition. The ER is an important regulator of growth and differentiation in the mammary gland. Presence of ER in breast tumors indicates an increased likelihood of response to anti-estrogen (e.g. tamoxifen) therapy

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Gel Supershift, Immunoprecipitation and Affinity Purification. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionImmunoprecipitation: 2ug/mg protein lysate; Use Protein G, Native and denatured.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

ImmunogenPurified, SDS-denatured calf uterus estrogen receptor. Epitope
SpecificityRecognizes bovine Estrogen Receptor (ER) at 67kD. The epitope maps between residues 125-165. On chymotryptic cleavage, recognizes only the undigested ER indicating that its epitope is dismembered by digestion. Species Crossreactivity: Human, rabbit, mouse and rat.
