Estrogen receptor alpha (ER alpha) is a nuclear protein and member of the steroid hormone receptor family. ER alpha possesses both DNA binding and ligand binding domains, and exerts a significant role in activating the transcription of certain genes (1). Ligand-dependent dimerization and phosphorylation both function to regulate the transcriptional activation of ER alpha (2). Phosphorylation of ER alpha at Serine 118 and ER alpha at Serine 167 affects survival in estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer and could be helpful in distinguishing patients who are likely to benefit from endocrine therapy alone from those who are not (3).

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
