Binds human factor IX and factor IXa in solid-phase ELISA. Binding to factor IX requires Ca^2+, binding inhibited by EDTA. Binds ^125I-labeled factor IX. Inhibits plasma clotting and factor X activation by factor IXa.

Reacts strongly with native factor IX. Strong reaction is seen in ELISA with native factor IX directly coated onto the microtiter well, and also when tested in sandwich ELISA in combination with a polyclonal antibody against factor IX. In Western Blot after SDS-PAGE reacts with factor IX in non-reduced form only.
