| Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) is a 125kD non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase that plays a key role in signaling by growth factors, extracellular matrix and stress signals. Indeed, FAK plays a central role in cell spreading, differentiation, migration, cell death and acceleration of the G1 to S phase transition of the cell cycle. The serine/threonine kinase cyclin-dependent kinase-5 (Cdk5)-an important regulator in brain development-phosphorylates serine 732 of FAK, possibly regulating a centrosome-associated microtubule structure to promote nuclear translocation, a critical step in neuronal migration. This phosphorylation does not have a direct impact on the kinase activity of FAK, but appears to prevent the accumulation of FAK at the centrosome. | | | Catalog # | F0019-56G | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot.
