| FABP4 (Fatty acid binding protein 4) is expressed in adipocytes and macrophages, and integrates inflammatory and metabolic responses. FABP4 is thought to regulate fatty acid uptake, release, and storage in adipocytes and participates in systemic glucose homeostasis and in macrophage responses in atherosclerosis. Blocking this protein either through genetic engineering or drugs has the possibility of treating heart disease, diabetes, asthma, obesity, and fatty liver disease. | | | Catalog # | F0019-82F | | FABP is a plasma marker of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The plasma kinetics of FABP (15kD) closely resemble those of myoglobin in that elevated plasma concentrations are found within 2 hours after AMI and return to normal generally within 18 to 24 hours. The concentration of FABP in the skeletal muscle is 20 times lower than in cardiac tissue (for myoglobin the same content for cardiac and skeletal tissue), making FABP cardiac-specific cf. myoglobin. This makes FABP a useful biochemical marker for the early assessment or exclusion of AMI. FABP also appears a useful plasma marker for the estimation of myocardial infarct size. | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot:1:500-2000 | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | Derived from hybridization of mouse F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with a recombinant human FABP4 protein. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1,k | | Clone No | 9E15 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Recombinant human FABP4 (1-132aa) purified from E. coli | | Specificity | Recognizes human FABP4. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
