The feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is the causative agent of the most important fatal infectious disease complex of domestic cats today. It is an RNA virus belonging to the family Retroviridae. FeLV can be transmitted between infected cats when the transfer of saliva or nasal secretions is involved. If not defeated by the animalís immune system, the virus can be lethal.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin), and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

SpecificityRecognizes feline leukemina virus envelope protein p15e and is specific for an epitope towards the N-terminal domain. In Western blotting, under reducing conditions, bands are observed at 20 kDa and 15 kDa representing the intact FeLV p15e and a truncated p15e sheared from the cell surface.
