Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in all organisms. It has the shape of a hollow sphere that permits entry of a variable amount of iron for storage as ferric hydroxide phosphate complexes. Mammalian liver and spleen ferritin (relative mass about 450,000) consists of 24 subunits of 2 species, the heavy subunit (relative mass = 21,000) and the light subunit (relative mass = 19,000).

Applications	Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions	Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000
	ELISA: 1:2000-1:10,000
	Capture ELISA: 1:12,000-1:60,000. Assayed against 1ug of Ferritin (human spleen) using ABTS (A0030) as a substrate for 30 minutes at RT.
	Immunohistochemistry: 1:200-1:1000
	Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.
