| The fasting-induced adipose factor (FIAF, ANGPTL4, PGAR, HFARP) was previously identified as a novel adipocytokine that was up-regulated by fasting, by peroxisome proliferators- activated receptor agonists, and by hypoxia. FIAF and other adipocytokines including resistin, adiponectin, acylationstimulating protein, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, rennin angiotensin system, metallothioneins and tumor growth factor-b have been implicated in a variety of different processes, ranging from blood pressure control to lipid metabolism and insulin senziting.
