| GABA (A) receptors are ligand-gated chloride channels that play a role as inhibitory neurotransmitters. They are known targets for certain classes of environmental and pharmaceutical compounds because a number of drugs interact with binding sites on GABA (A). Some of these drugs include benzodiazepines, anticonvulsants, and anesthetics. |
|
| GABA (A) Receptors are comprised of subunits and these are further classified into 3 major groups (alpha, beta, and gamma). The subunits determine the pharmacological characteristics. |

| Catalog # | G1016 |
| Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. |
| Recommended Dilutions | Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detected the GABA A Receptor beta 2,3 subunits from 20ug of rat brain microsomal preparation. Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with G1016 (2ug/ml). Proteins were visualized using a IgG (HRP) GtxMo and ECL. |
| Immunoprecipitation: 4ug immunoprecipated the GABA A Receptor beta 2,3 subunits from 500ug of rat brain microsomal preparation. Due to interference of the IgG heavy chain, the immunoprecipitated GABA A reseptor complex was confirmed using G1015-06. |
| Immunohistochemistry: Detects GABA A Receptor beta 2,3 subunits in paraffin embedded and frozen rat brain sections fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde or 1% glutaraldehyde and permeabilized with Triton X-100. |
| Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. |
| Recommended secondary antibodies | I1904-06C: IgG, H&L (HRP) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo |
| I1904-06H: IgG, H&L (HRP) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo |
