| Galactose oxidase (GAO) produced by the fungus Dactylium dendroides is used in the quantitative determination of galactose in blood and other biological fluids. Because GAO oxidizes galactose even in polysaccharides it has been used to locate galactose histochemically and to detect and distinguish glycoproteins. | | | Catalog # | G1040-01 | | Activity | 30 units per dry weight | | % Catalase | As reported | | mg/ml (A280) | As reported | | Unit Definition | 1 unit is a change in absorbance at 425 nm of 1.0 per minute at 25ºC, pH 6.0, in a coupled peroxidase/o-tolidine system, using galactose as a substrate. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
