| Galectin is localized in both intracellular space such as the cytoplasm or nucleus, extracellular space such as the cell surface and extracellular matrix. Galectin-3 expression is down-regulated in Colon, Breast and Ovarian cancer. But it is upregulated in Thyroid tumors and primary Gastric adenocarcinomas. Galectin-3 expression correlates with the malignant potential of tumors in the central nervous systems.
