| GLI2, also known as GLI-Kruppel family member 2, a 133.3kDa protein belonging to the C2H2-type zinc finger protein subclass of the Gli family of transcription factors. GLI2 and the related GLI3 proteins are the primary transcription factors that mediate Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signals in the mouse, GLI2 being primarily a transcriptional activator while GLI3 is a transcriptional repressor. Studies indicate that GLI2 plays a role in embryogenesis.
