| Epitope tags are useful for thge labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation and immunostaining techniques. Due to their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties. Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a widely used protein fusion partner, since it provides both an easily detectable Tag and a simple purification process with little effect on the biological function of the protein of interest. Numerous vectors containing GST-Tag have been developed for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems over the past decade (1-3). | | | Catalog # | G8135-01G | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:1000 | | Immunocytochemistry (for IF): 1:800 | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG2a | | Clone No | 3A18 | | Host | Mouse | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS. No stabilizing proteins added. No preservative added. Also available with BSA & sodium azide. See G8135-01. | | Purity | Ascites | | Immunogen | GST fusion protein | | Specificity | Detects overexpressed GST fusion proteins. Recognizes only glutathione S-transferase. Species Crossreactivity: Expected to crossreact with proteins fused to GST from all species. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
