| G-protein coupled receptor GPR49 (also known as Leucine-rich repeat containing G-protein coupled receptor 5, Lgr5) is closely related to members of the glycoprotein hormone receptor subfamily. It is expressed in skeletal muscle, placenta, spinal cord, and various regions of the brain (1). GPR49 is reported to possibly mark stem cells in multiple adult tissues and is over expressed in cancers. G protein-coupled receptor GPR49 is an Orphan-A GPCR with an unknown ligand. GPR49 has been reported to be expressed in brain, skeletal muscle, placenta and spinal cord.
