GDF-5 acts as an inhibitor of nerve tissue growth. It is produced as a homodimer, nonglycosylated polypeptide chain containing 2X117aa with a molecular weight of 26.8kD. To enable bacterial expression of rhGDF-5 we removed the N-terminal sequence Ala-Pro-Leu-Thr and added the Lys.
Catalog #G8989-45D
SourceRecombinant corresponding to human GDF-5 expressed in E. coli.
Biological ActivityThe biological activity of the protein was measured by induction of alkaline phosphatase activity in ATDC5 cells. The EC50 is 30-50nM.
