Specifications

Growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. BMP proteins are secreted growth factors that are characterized by seven conserved cysteine residues. In general, they are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. GDF9 can form non-covalent homodimers when expressed individually, while when GDF9 and BMP15 are co-expressed BMP-15/GDF-9 heterodimers are produced. GDF9 signaling might be transduced by binding to the bone morphogenetic protein receptor (BMPR) type II and one or more BMPR type I receptors.
