Hsp16.6 belongs to the class I family of small heat shock proteins. They are induced once a cell is stressed by an increase in temperature. Synechocystis Hsp16.6 is involved in the development of thermo-tolerance and thylakoid stability. The way small HSP proteins are
protecting a living cell is not fully understood. They seem to be involved in chaperone functions by protecting other proteins from irreversible denaturation.
Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
